- Global Exchange - A membership-based international human rights organization dedicated to promoting social, economic, and environmental justice around the world.
- Greenpeace - A non-profit organization with a presence in 40 countries across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and the Pacific. It exists to expose environmental criminals and to challenge government and corporations when their actions promote environmental degradation.
- The Holy Observer - God's no. 1 source for Christian newsin other words, it's outrageous religious satire. Recommended by The Door Magazine.
- Howard Center for Family, Religion & Society - A a non-profit research center focusing on the "natural family" as the fundamental unit of society and affirming family and religion as the foundation of a virtuous and free society.
- In Defense of Animals - An international animal protection organization dedicated to ending the exploitation and abuse of animals by raising the status of animals beyond that of mere property, and by defending their rights, welfare and habitat. - Independent Media Center - Indymedia is a collective of independent media organizations and hundreds of journalists offering grassroots, non-corporate coverage. A democratic media outlet for the creation of radical, accurate, and passionate tellings of truth.
- The Institute for Policy Studies - A multi-issue think tank that strengthens social movements with independent research, visionary thinking, and links to the grassroots, scholars and elected officials.
- International Action Center - Information, activism, and resistance to US militarism, war, and corporate greed, linking with struggles against racism and oppression in the US.
- Jacques Ellul - Website for the Christian theologian, activist, and anarchist. Also publishes the Ellul Forum. See the Association Internationale Jacques Ellul for another resource.
- Jesus Radicals - A resource site for Christians "who are tired of playing power games practiced in the name of Jesusfor those of us who are tired of violence and the lording of it over others."
- Jewish Encyclopedia - The complete unedited contents of the 12-volume Jewish Encyclopedia, available online. Originally published between 1901-1906 and now in the public domain, the encyclopedia contains over 15,000 articles and illustrations.
- Kill Radio - A Los Angeles based internet radio station run by the Kill Radio Collective, a group of older activists and journalists. Kill Radio is short for Kill Corporate Radio, or Kill Monopoly Radio, or K-ILL Radio, whatever.
- Liberty Online - A magazine of religious freedom. Online version of Liberty magazine.
- MediaChannel.org - A media-issues supersite, featuring criticism, breaking news, and investigative reporting from hundreds of organizations worldwide.
- Mother Jones - An independent nonprofit whose roots lie in a commitment to social justice implemented through first rate investigative reporting.
- The Nation - Makes an earnest effort to bring to the discussion of political and social questions a really critical spirit, and to wage war upon the vices of violence, exaggeration, and misrepresentation by which so much of the political writing of the day is marred.
- New Internationalist Online - A communications co-operative that exists to report on issues of world poverty and inequality, focusing attention on the unjust relationship between the powerful and the powerless in both rich and poor nations.
- Open Directory Project - An endeavor to create the most comprehensive directory of the Internet through the efforts of a vast army of volunteer editors.
- Paper Tiger TV - An open, non-profit, volunteer video collective. Through the production and distribution of its public access series, media literacy/video production workshops, community screenings and grassroots advocacy, Paper Tiger Television works to challenge and expose the corporate control of mainstream media.
- Poynter Institute - An exceptional school for journalists, future journalists, and teachers of journalists.
- The Progressive - Its mission is to be a journalistic voice for peace and social justice at home and abroad.
- Project Censored - A media research group out of Sonoma State University which tracks the news published in independent journals and newsletters. From these, Project Censored compiles an annual list of 25 news stories of social significance that have been overlooked, under-reported, or self-censored by the country's major national news media.
- Project Gutenberg - The Internet's oldest producer of free electronic books (eBooks or eTexts); supported by battalions of volunteer readers, "distributed proofreaders," and editors.
- Psalters - Hymn writing troubadors with a gypsy-like musical style.

- Restoring Eden - Christian activists dedicated to encouraging faithful stewardship of the creation by advocating for natural habitats, wild species, and indigenous cultures.
- Ship of Fools - This is a hilarious webzine. Dubbed "the magazine of Christian unrest," Ship of Fools was first launched in 1977 as a print publication; it sank in 1983, leaving a gap never filled in publishing circles. Read it now online.
- Small House Society - A cooperatively managed organization dedicated to the promotion of smaller housing alternatives which can be more affordable and ecological.
- Street Spirit - A publication of the AFSC that reports extensively on homelessness, poverty, economic inequality, welfare issues, human rights issues, and the struggle for social justice; dedicated to empowering poor and homeless people and giving a voice to the voiceless, at a time when the voices of the poor are virtually locked out of the mainstream media.

- Theocracy Watch - Raises awareness about the pervasive role of the Religious Right in the US government. A project of the Center for Religion, Ethics and Social Policy (CRESP) at Cornell University.
- Truthout.org - Getting the truth out with on-the-spot news and information.
- The Yes Men - Helping the world through a process of "identity correction" (not to be confused with identity theft) where basically honest people impersonate big-time criminals in order to publicly humiliate them; targets are leaders and big corporations who put profits ahead of everything else.
- Z Magazine - An independent monthly magazine dedicated to resisting injustice, defending against repression, and creating liberty.
